Multi-instrumental player Scott 'Razor' Sharpe has been a veteran in the Asheville, NC, music scene for over 20 years. His main musical projects at this time are: Steelin' Time, Krista Shows & Scott Sharpe, and French Broad Playboys.
Originally from Statesville, NC, this self-taught musician began by cataloguing and transferring old records from the public library on to cassettes, namely Mance Liscomb, Mississippi John Hurt, Mississippi Fred McDowell, among others. In his teen years, he got into the traditional music scene in Love Valley and Union Grove, NC. With musical friend Abe Reid, he spent time playing with Winston-Salem's Guitar Gabriel, whose finger picking style was influential to Sharpe.
Sharpe co-founded The Blue Rags, with Abe Reid and Jake Holly, a full-attitude rag and roll act that put Asheville, NC, on the national music map. They released two full length albums on Sub Pop Records and toured the ol' US of A for a decade til the wheels fell off.
As time took its toll on The Rags, Sharpe's love of country music took a new light. Buying some steel guitars
and carrying some bullish desire, Scott took on to playing pedal and non pedal steel guitars.
